Luka Stobrec is a charter location in Split – Tucepi to Tribunj, a yacht charter area in Croatia.

The anchorages on Luka Stobrec:

Overview

The bay of Uvala Stobreč is located 4 miles east of the city of Split and 10 miles northwest of the small harbour of Omis.  The mouth of the river Zrnovnica opens into the bay. The small village and resort of Stobreč, which is a part of the Split municipality, is located on the west shore.

Navigation

A large hotel Southeast of Kairos Harbour is a good landmark that can help locating the bay. The harbor wall extends out from the west headland, which has rocks to the South and East, close to the shore. Several pontoons on North of the wall are used by small crafts. Stobrec harbor has no lights, so night navigation can be tricky. In some places, underwater, the breakwater is damaged so on approaching you should give this clearance of at least 100 metres.

Where to Anchor

If space permits, tie up alongside the breakwater. Shallow draught vessels may be able to berth in the marina at Podstrana. Anchor in 2-4m on mud bottom with good holding. Take care to avoid the sewer pipe which extends past the breakwater, from the NW of the harbour. This anchorage has good shelter, even from the Bora, The only winds which cause swell to enter the bay are from the SE.

General Information

Water is available from the marina at Podstrana, or a tap SW of the bay at Stobrec. The town has a bank, ATM, supermarket, PO, and other tourist facilities. There is also a bus service into Split where, of course, you’ll find everything.

History and Culture

The history of the area dates back to the times of the ancient Greeks, who called the settlement Epetion. There are still traces of the defensive walls they built.  The village’s other claim to fame is that of an inscribed sarcophagus from the 3rd century AD.  It proclaims the achievements of a certain Lucius Artorius Castus, Roman commander. According to certain sources, he was the inspiration behind the legends of King Arthur, as he has previously been based in Britain.  Of course he was (not)!

Beaches

The long beach of Strobec is partly near the river, and partly near a well-organized campsite. Perhaps not the most spectacular beach on the Dalmatian Riviera, it’s still fine for an early morning dip or as the start of a stroll around the village and along the river.

Where to Eat

There are several cafes and restaurants along the waterfront, where you can eat good local food and watch the world go by.

Kasa Grill and Bar

Amazing steaks are their signature, but also try the shrimp linguini or the truffle pasta. Highly rated in the area, and appreciated by the locals as well as visitors.

Konoba Nikola

A bit off the beaten track, this konoba is worth a visit if you want the freshest seafood possible – you literally choose from a live selection, freshly caught that day.  The wines are good, and don’t miss the traditional dessert “Splitska torta”.

Things to Do

Aquapark Dupichini

One for the whole family to enjoy. Lots of amazing activities to create those positive vacation vibes, including a fun bouncy playground floating in the warm, shallow, crystal-clear waters.
