Uval Krknjas

Overview

The Krknjasi Bay is known for its shallow seabed and beautiful beaches. When in the mood for a beach holiday, you simply cannot overlook this serene bay.

The bay is protected and surrounded by two islands – the small and large Krknjasi. As you walk along the coast, you will witness small coves with sandy shoals. Most of the travelers look for a private hideaway or a private beach to relax and run away from all the chaos of city life. This bay is the perfect destination for those who want peace and solace.

Navigation

There is a great anchorage on the Otok Drvenik Veli SE side. It is in the shallow region between the two loft-lying islands and the main island at O. Krknjaa Veli and O. Krknjaa Veli. It is the best place to swim and one should consider anchoring overnight in stable weather. Please check the anchor if it is still holding. There is a restaurant and some houses among the trees. You can enjoy a couple of drinks and Dalmatian cuisine here.

The anchorage is easily approachable from SE or S – you can pass any side of A. Krknjaa Veli. The channel is rocky and shallow (between O. Krknjasi Mali and O. Drvenik Veli).

Where to Anchor

There is a bay formed by the three known islands. You can anchor in about 3 meter here. Anchor and then take a line ashore but keep the cable clear. The sand and weed bottom have rock patches, so make sure you anchor and dig really well as the holding is not reliable.

General Information

The natural bliss is protected by two islands – small Krknjas and Large Krknjas. The sandy bottom and the crystal clear water will leave the visitors mesmerized. It is a little paradise in Dalmatia. The anchorage is not too far from the mainland, however there is hustle bustle or noisy traffic.

When the locals from surrounding places come to Uval Krknjas, they look for tranquility and solitude. The coast offers intimacy and is perfect for couples with small children.

Beaches

Krknjasi Beach

The beach is located 1.7 kilometers away from the main center. Krknjasi is also known as, ‘the Blue Lagoon.’ The two uninhabited islets that surround the bay create a visually appealing lagoon. It creates a shelter and protects the bay from strong winds.

If you are in the mood to snorkel, head to Krknjasi Beach. It is the perfect place to let your hair down, soak up the gracious sun, and build sandcastles.

Say hello to a really popular restaurant called, ‘The Communists.’ It serves delectable Dalmatian food. When you are near the sea, it is hard to miss the delicious fresh seafood option. In this restaurant, you can devour wonderful seafood. Head to The Communists as the coast is very easy to reach by a boat.

The bay gets crowded in the summer months, especially because daytrippers enjoy the crystal clear beach and the picturesque view. Since the water is crystal clear and not too deep, children and couples can snorkel and explore the blue lagoon. It is indeed a popular place in Croatia.
