Navigation
Drvenik Veliki is a car-free island and as you approach it, you will spot mesmerizing natural diversities, a ferry harbor, and a restaurant. Once you get closer to the island, you are able to view the small and the large Krknjasi.
Once you reach the blue lagoon, you will find many yachts and daytrippers. There is also lush greenery and crystal clear water all around. It feels like heaven when you reach the spot and jump into the water for a quick swim.
Where to anchor
Most boats sail into the marinas, and some of them anchor it. There is a passage between Mali Krknjas and Drvenik which is really shallow. The one between Veliki and Mali Krknjas is about 2.5 m in depth, so one has to sail from the S part.
The shallow part in the bottom is all sand so the depth is 6m to 7m. The anchor holds very well and the cove is well-protected from bura and western winds (more so if you have anchored in the north western part). It is not recommended to stay on anchor when the Southern Western wind is on full blow.
Krknjasi, also known as the ‘blue lagoon’ is a good place to anchor. So, the anchorage is extremely popular simply because it has crystal clear water. Travellers from Trogir and Split come with small boats, so you will usually find daytrippers here.

In the 15th century, the island was inhabited by nomads and shepherds. They were from Drvenik and Trogir hinterland. The nomads and shepherds came to the island to hide from the Turks.
