Overview

Located halfway between Pedgora and Makarska, Tucepi is a small and beautiful port town with spectacular beaches within easy reach. The recently-constructed marina can accommodate yachts up to 15m and is often crowded at weekends and during the high season.

Navigation

As you approach the marina, beware of rocks. There are 2 cables offshore, at Rt. Dracevac. Once you get closer to Tucepi the rocks of the outer breakwater, and the light at the end, become visible.

Where to Anchor

The outer part of the marina is usually occupied by fishing boats, so choose one bowline in the inner part. Although the Bora winds can be quite powerful, the marina provides good shelter in all directions, including from the SW.

General Information

There is a slipway at the marina as well as good parking facilities. Water and electricity are available at all berths. Close to the marina you’ll find toilets, showers, internet, and an ATM, as well as a restaurant and bar.

In Tucepi itself, you will find plenty of shops, banks, and a post office as well as a great selection of restaurants and bars. If scuba is your passion, check out the dive centre.

There are medical facilities and a veterinary centre in the town. If you feel like venturing further afield and exploring the local area, there’s a regular bus service

Important note: there are no fueling facilities in the vicinity of the marina.

History and Culture

Although the city dates back to Roman times, it was first mentioned, in writing, in the Kresevo Charter of 1434.  According to an ancient Illyrian text, the name Tucepi means “village by the spring”. While you are in Tucepi, a visit to the historical centre and local museum will provide a fascinating background to this wonderful town.

Beaches

The 3km pebble beach stretches to the neighbouring town Podgora, and in the season you’ll find chairs and umbrellas to rent.  If sitting on the beach is not your thing, take a stroll along the promenade with its beautiful pine trees providing shade on the hottest of summer days.  Podgora also has beautiful beaches, so it’s worth the walk.

Nugal Beach

Nugal is a tiny nudist beach that lies between Tucepi and Makarska. Surrounded by cliffs, you reach it by boat, or on foot, passing through a shady pine forest. The secluded spot is one of the most beautiful beaches in the area.

Places of Interest

Church of St. George

The church was built in 1311 and it is a one-nave Romanesque and Gothic building, with a semicircular apse. The beautifully painted crosses in the interior are of special interest.

Church of St. John

Constructed in 1703 as a nave building with all the features of the Dalmatian provincial baroque. A beautiful calm atmosphere pervades the cool interior of the church.

Where to Eat

In Tucepi there are plenty of restaurants and local taverns -known as konoba, which offer excellent choices. If you want to sample typical Dalmatian dishes of freshly caught fish and seafood, you will be spoiled for choice here. There are so many to choose from, but here are three favourites with visitors and locals alike.

Restaurant Jeny

For a gourmet experience, Restaurant Jeny (rated #1 in Tucepti on Tripadvisor), offers beautifully prepared and presented food, great wine pairings, and a sophisticated ambience.

Konoba Veza

Enjoy typical local dishes in the magical atmosphere of this lovely place. Great value for money, and friendly service. Try the mixed meat platter –  although the octopus and grilled sea bass are not to be missed!

Tenor

Mouthwatering steaks, great seafood, and also lots of delicious options for vegetarians!  Family-friendly atmosphere, great service, and reasonable prices.
