KRILO (JESENICE)

Overview

Krilo (aka Jesenice) is an ideal base for those who want to spend most of their vacation time at the beach. Krilo does not have much to offer in the way of nightlife, which is a bonus if you just want some peace in a tranquil area. For those looking for a livelier scene, nearby Omis or Split is a better option and are within easy reach by taxi. There’s a supermarket close to the harbour. Also a local bus service.

Navigation

Krilo is situated 2½ miles NW of Dugi Rat, with a harbour on the northeast of a small headland. Two breakwaters lie to the S and SE of the inner pier, which is lit. The breakwater heads are unlit.

Where to Anchor

The small harbour at Krilo is the home port for several traditional sand boats and trippers. There may not be much space in the harbour, but, providing you check with the crew beforehand, of course, it may be possible to tie up alongside one of the sand boats.

If not, anchor in 7m, sand, and weed, outside the harbour.

The harbour provides shelter from the NW to the E and good protection from the Bora.

Beaches

There are two pebble beaches in the town. They are ideal for swimming – the water is crystal clear and shallow. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available, and there are beach bars/cafes nearby.

Where to Eat

Konoba Basjo

You will find this beautiful restaurant a little way up the hill. Magnificent sea views, shady terrace, and sumptuous local food and wines. There is even a small swimming pool to help you cool down after your walk on balmy summer evenings.

Konoba Posejdon

Known for its warm welcome and great atmosphere.  Delicious menu including grilled stuffed chicken, seafood pizza, shrimp risotto, steak, and veal with mushrooms, fried potatoes & grilled vegetables.

You will find plenty of apartments to rent in Krilo Jesenice- many with stunning sea views.  However, if you are looking for comfort and service, we would recommend:

Hotel Krilo

Just opposite the beach and marina, this hotel has earned a great reputation for friendly service, cleanliness, and especially their delicious breakfasts. Perfect for families looking for a quiet few days by the beach.

Things to Do

Given that Krilo Jesenice is such a quiet place, most of the activities take place on the water: swimming, snorkeling, jet-skiing, etc. It is also a good base for open-diving, with plenty of marine life.
