TRUE NORTH Yacht Description
System override: TRUE NORTH is not a “yacht with a tender.” It’s a 49m expedition ship with six expedition boats and its own Bell 407 helicopter on tap. If you’re looking for serious exploring rather than gentle bobbing at anchor, this is where your search quietly ends.
Capacity glitch: up to 36 guests in 18 en‑suite staterooms, run by a crew of around 20. Translation: small‑ship expedition scale, yacht‑level service. Three cabin types (Superior King, King, Twin), most with convertible king beds and proper windows, not porthole bunkers.
Built for actual adventure, not just brochure shots. TRUE NORTH was purpose‑designed (launched 2005, refit 2008) as an expedition platform: aluminium hull, six aluminium tenders for splitting into small groups, onboard aviation fuel storage for fully self‑sufficient heli ops, and stabilizers at anchor so you can watch waterfalls, not crockery, move.
Onboard reality: fully air‑conditioned, Wi‑Fi, satellite comms, internet café, panoramic observation lounge over the bow, and an indoor/outdoor bar that quietly becomes the default base camp for sunset briefings and post‑heli debriefs. Every cabin has plasma screen, DVD/CD, direct‑dial sat phone; the main lounge runs twin large plasmas and full PA for presentations or trip‑leader content.
Why charter TRUE NORTH instead of a conventional superyacht: because you get a true expedition ship that can also comfortably host a full group of 30‑plus guests, split into multiple landing parties, run serious fishing, diving and snorkelling days, deploy a Jet Ski when needed, and then lift everyone straight into the helicopter to see the terrain from above. It’s the rare platform where “adventure charter” isn’t marketing language – it’s the operating system.
