Description: Captain Teodor Vuković was born on 26 September 1963 in Krilo Jesenice, a small Dalmatian village well known in maritime circles. He comes from a family with a long seafaring tradition and represents the third generation of seafarers, following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father. Today, he and his brothers continue the family legacy through the ownership and operation of luxury small cruise ships.
He has been a captain since 1996, with almost 30 years of experience in command. He graduated from maritime high school, and his knowledge, confidence, and safety at sea are built on decades of practical experience, family tradition, and daily life on the water.
His connection with the sea began in childhood. In 1971, as a young boy, he started sailing with his father, and since then the sea has remained at the heart of his life. Apart from occasional periods spent away from the sea due to his education, he has spent his entire professional life at sea, gaining experience through the different stages of his family’s maritime development.
The Vuković family tradition began with small wooden sailing vessels that transported various cargo between the Dalmatian islands. Over time, the business developed into excursion tourism and later into the modern luxury small cruise ships that today form an important part of Croatia’s nautical offer. This long-standing experience, passed down through generations, has shaped Captain Teodor Vuković into a true man of the sea, with a deep understanding of navigation, guests, and life on the Adriatic.
Teodor speaks Italian fluently and can also communicate in English and German. As captain of Il Mare, he brings together professionalism, calmness, experience, and authentic Dalmatian maritime tradition, offering guests a safe and enjoyable journey along the Croatian Adriatic. With his excellent knowledge of the Croatian coast, islands, and authentic local places, he guides guests through a special and unforgettable Adriatic experience.
